Marquee Magazine is a bi-monthly publication of Marquee Publications, Inc. Marquee is published six times a year, with periodic special editions. One-year subscriptions are available at $16 for six issues; two-year subscriptions are available at $24 for twelve issues. Marquee also makes a great year-round gift for anyone, whether they live in the Mountain South or just love the area.

Guidelines for Artists and Photographers

If you have an interest in submitting your art or photography for our consideration, our suggestion is to look through several recent issues of Marquee to get a feel for the beauty, the clarity, and the editorial usefulness of what visual art we currently use. Please feel free to submit a digital sample only (under 5 mb) of your photography or illustration portfolio to us via email at: info@marqueemagazine.com

Contributor’s Guidelines

Submissions:

The prospective contributor should send a query letter via email to Emily Katt, Publishing Assistant along with digital samples of published work. The query should provide a sample of the style of the proposed article, indicate a perspective, and list material to be covered. A brief outline showing the style and approach of the proposed article should accompany the letter.

Acceptance:

Contributors will receive a response to queries within 30 days. Upon receiving a positive response to a query, the contributor will also receive a formal assignment as well as a writer’s agreement acknowledging deadline, word count, target publishing date, and fee. To confirm the article assignment, this agreement must be signed and returned within two weeks of the send date. All material should be considered submitted on speculation until formally accepted. By accepting an article, Marquee makes no commitment to a publishing date.

Production:

Contributors should follow the Associated Press Stylebook. Marquee stories are embargoed from assignment until the date of publication to protect content integrity. Contributors will provide Marquee with pertinent contacts’ names and contact information for use in scheduling photography.

Editing:

All manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word, digital format (either attached via email or on disc). While the editor reserves the right to exercise final editorial control over any and all submitted work, the editor will discuss changes made to submissions with the contributor whenever possible. Contributors will make all notes, tapes, and related source material available to Marquee’s editor for fact-checking purposes.

Payment:

Payment will be made within 30 days from publication of the article.
